I²C 16-bit GPIO expansion
NCA9555 is a 24-pin CMOS component that provides 16-bit general purpose parallel I²C bus number input/output GPIO expansion. It provides a simple solution to the additional I/O requirements of applications such as ACPI power switches, sensors, buttons, LEDs and fans. NCA9555 consists of two 8-bit configurations (input or output selection). Input, output and polarity inversion (high-level on or low-level on) registers. By writing to the I/O’s configuration bits, the system host can enable I/O as input or output. The data of each input or output is stored in the corresponding input or output register. The polarity of the HPIAR can be reversed using the polarity inversion register. All registers can be read by the system host. NCA9555 open-drain interrupt output is activated when any input state differs from its corresponding input port register state and is used to indicate to the main equipment of the system that the output state has changed. A power-on reset sets the registers to their default values and initializes the state machine of the component. Three hardware pins (A0, A1, A2) change the fixed I²C bus address and allow up to eight components to share the same I²C bus.
